I am an advisor, along with Anne Lobeck, for Linguistics majors with an English concentration. I am always happy to talk with students interested in linguistics (so, you don't have to be a major or a minor) about graduate school, linguistics-related careers, conference presentations, cool tree software, phonetic fonts, how to tell your family and friends you're a linguistics major (and make them understand what that means), and other linguistically-related topics nearly any time.
Contact me at kristin.denham@wwu.edu or come by Humanities 341.
I am also the Student Colloquium Coordinator. Here's what you need to know about that.

Fall 2006 Colloquium Form
Guidelines for Student Colloquium Presentation:
* It is a requirement for graduation to give a presentation of your linguistic research.
* You are encouraged to present some work that you have already done for one of your linguistics classes, many of which include a paper, project, or presentation as one of the requirements.
* Presentations may be by individuals or small groups.
* Presentations should be approximately 10 minutes (per group or individual) with 5 minutes for questions. (Sometimes we adjust this slightly depending on the total number of presenters.)
* When you think you have a topic, choose a linguistics faculty member as a mentor. This person will help ensure that you have a satisfactory presentation. You should also work with your faculty mentor on the format of your presentation, handouts, overheads, multimedia setup, etc.
* We can arrange for practice talks, especially if some presenters have not already or recently presented the material in another class. Talk with Kendra Douglas about this.
* If you present a linguistics paper at Scholars Week or at a linguistics conference, that will satisfy the colloquium presentation requirement. You still need to complete this form, indicating what you intend to present and where.
* The last thing to do, is to complete the attached form, have it signed by your faculty mentor, Dr. Rudi Weiss, and the faculty student colloquium coordinators, Kristin Denham or Kendra Douglas.
