Goal of Conversation Partners Program
The Conversation Partner program pairs international students who are at Western to improve their English with WWU students who are interested in learning about other cultures and in being a tutor, mentor, and friend to a visiting international student.
The purpose of the Conversation Partner program is to facilitate and promote international friendships, cultural awareness, and to help IEP students improve their conversational English skills. Partner matches are made based on preferences and shared interests.
How it Works
International students in the Intensive
English Program are matched one-on-one with WWU students as
conversational partners for the purpose of getting together, talking
and practicing conversational English, and just having fun.
Conversation Partners can meet on-campus or off-campus and can
participate in a wide variety of activities. Popular activities include
meeting
for
coffee,
exploring
Bellingham,
and
cooking
together.
